Actor Donovan Keith, who I've forced to do a series of humiliating acts on (and off) stage in the year that I've known him, has just moved to Los Angeles. Donovan is so sweet and innocent that he really is like Heather Graham's character in Bowfinger—she's a wide-eyed Midwestern girl who steps off a bus in Hollywood and asks the nearest passerby, "Where do I go to become an actress?"
Donovan, of course, has more savvy than that, but I don't want to believe it. (I like 'em young and dumb, remember?) He's blogging about his adventures in L.A. in what will prove to be a fascinating document of Hollywood actor culture. He's also gearing the blog to be a resource for other wide-eyed talent setting their sites on the big show. Will the blog end up being an optimistic paean about the struggles but ultimate victories of following your dreams or a bleary examination about an artist's descent into madness and ruthlessness? We will not know for sure until at least six months from now. Stay tuned.
Also, I promise to continue making snide comments on his blog, so you now have two reasons to read it.
