The 25th Anniversary of :-)

On September 19, 1982, at 11:44AM, Carnegie Mellon professor Scott E. Fahlman used three keystrokes—a colon, a hyphen, and a parenthesis—to create a smiley face emoticon in a message he posted on an electronic bulletin board. This was the first time the smiley face was ever used on a computer. This man is a virtual hero! Someone get him a pocket protector! Quick!
