Okay. Michael Phelps is awesome (or is he?), but did you hear about Benjamin Boukpeti? (Yeah, this is old news for some, but it's new to me!) Ranked 56th in the world for the men's single kayak slalom and competing for Togo, a small West African country that has never won a medal, he came in third place—landing a bronze medal that has made him a national hero. Out of sheer excitement, he snapped his paddle in half! Truly awesome. Read more here.

    i like this, the same way i was all jazzed about the guy from afghanistan.. their one medal outweighs all of the others.
